Two-thirds of the time, these leaders didn’t agree or weren’t sure that they had the same definition of what marketing return on investment is. Fewer than 30% of CEOs thought their CMOs were highly effective at driving growth.”

If you’re starting a new business or just want to give your marketing a facelift, ChatGPT can be your secret weapon (and it won’t break the bank either). Here are some ways you can use it to get started today.

1. Figure Out What You Want

It might seem like a no-brainer, but it’s super important to spell out what you actually want to achieve with your marketing. This helps you stay on track and see how you’re doing. What’s on your wish list for next year? Maybe you’re all about getting new customers, or maybe you want to make sure the ones you have are super happy. You could be trying to get your brand out there more or get people talking about you on social media.

Oh, and don’t forget to fill ChatGPT in on any extra details you have, like where you are, who you’re trying to reach, or anything else you think is important.

3. Get to Know Your People

Your customers are the heart and soul of your business, so let’s take some time to really get to know them. This first step is all about understanding who might be interested in what you’re offering.

Hey ChatGPT, my business is in the [industry] world and we [describe product or service]. Can you fill me in on who might be interested in what we’re doing? I’m curious about their average age, income, education, what they do for work, stuff like that. I’d also love to know what they’re into, what’s important to them, and what their lifestyle is like. And it would be super helpful to understand what problems or issues our [service/product] can help them solve. Can you give me a quick summary?

Taking care of your current customers is just as important as finding new ones. In fact, it’s usually a lot easier and cheaper to keep someone happy than to convince a new person to give you a shot. ChatGPT can help you understand what your current customers are thinking. One way to do this is with a survey. 

Here’s what you can ask ChatGPT:

Hey ChatGPT, I want to make a survey to get feedback from my customers. I want to know more about them, make sure they’re happy, and keep them coming back for more. Can you whip up a detailed survey template for me?

4. Picking the Best Social Media

The world of social media is always changing, so it’s important for businesses to keep up with where their customers are hanging out. Why bother posting on Facebook if your people are all about X, right?

Here’s a way to get ChatGPT to help you figure out where you should be focusing your energy:

That’s more valuable than ever. While I wouldn’t have ChatGPT write all your marketing stuff, it can be a super helpful (and cheap) editor.

When you’re putting together your marketing message, focus on two big things: what makes your company awesome and what your audience actually wants to know. Once you’ve got a draft, ask ChatGPT to take a look and make it even better. Just fill in the blanks here:

We want to come across as [voice description — for example, breezy, conversational and witty, or sophisticated, intellectual, and thought-provoking]?
